Tutors are invited to participate in our monthly, online Tutor B'Yachad training sessions in which volunteers connect and share strategies, successes, and resources. Tutor B’Yachad also connects tutors to each other individually or through small groups based on individual tutor’s needs.
Through Ivrit B’Yachad, volunteers meet online weekly in small, skill-based groups to practice Hebrew speaking skills.
Volunteers make personal connections with others who share the EBY tutor experience and a love of Israel and Hebrew.
EBY’s Israel B’Yachad programming offers educational, online symposia delivered by Israeli leaders and other professionals about the communities we serve and historical, geo-political, and cultural factors that affect our students. These symposia are carefully designed to meet the needs and interests of the English B'Yachad community of seasoned volunteers who already have a strong connection with Israel and their students.
I find it astonishing how we, who were strangers before we began our weekly Hebrew lessons together, are so in sync, and sympatico with each other. It’s as if we were hand picked to be together, but we weren’t. How is it that we all share such a deep love of Israel, the Hebrew language, Israeli music and poetry, and of course, teaching our Israeli students? Our group was formed as a side interest group, pulled from teachers in English B’Yachad who simply wanted to practice and improve our Hebrew by speaking together. Although we have never met in person, we have developed a close and warm bond amongst ourselves through our weekly Zoom meetings. It is very special, and as I said, astonishing.
